For the first time in 2019, the Dream Maker headed out to Echunga, where the Southern Demons played host to the Barker Roos in the inaugural Murphy Jones Memorial Shield. The Shield is named after two legends of HFL, being Mount Barker’s Peter Murphy and Echunga’s Vic Jones, both of whom have passed away from cancer in the last few years.
A great match ensued, with the Demons’ drive to claw their way up the ladder overpowering the Roos’ desire to cement their position at the pointy end. The Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation was also a winner, with generous support from the clubs and the fans; the Roos presenting a cheque to the Foundation of $3,500 in addition to the money raised throughout the day by Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation volunteers on the ground.
The 2019 HFL Call Of The Wild is proudly sponsored by Mortgage Choice Adelaide Hills, Jarrett Motors, Adelaide Star Bus, Ned’s Whisky & Cola and Chris Shaw Accounting.
